Description

Save 8% compared with buying the screen, basket, and coffee separately.

For anyone with a Breville 58mm machine, including the Oracle Jet, who wants water to reach the whole puck evenly, a basket that doses the same way every time, and fresh coffee to dial it all in.

The pack has three parts:

  • The Pesado High Diffusion Shower Screen replaces the plastic diffusion plate behind your factory screen with stainless steel, and uses 18 channels to spread water across the whole coffee bed. It includes a 0.2mm contact mesh.
  • The Pesado EP Electro Polished Filter Basket is polished right inside the holes for a smoother, more forgiving flow, with dosing held to ±1g. It's made to bring out medium to dark roasts.
  • A bag of our own coffee, roasted in Australia and chosen by you.

A new screen and basket change how water moves through the puck, so it's worth dialling in on fresh coffee rather than the last of an old bag.

Choose your machine

  • Dual Boiler, Oracle, and Oracle Touch: the screen fits using your machine's existing screws.
  • Oracle Jet: ships with the compatibility screw the Oracle Jet needs.

Choose your basket

  • 18g: a standard double shot.
  • 20g: room for a larger dose and a stronger shot.
  • 22g: the biggest dose, for a rich, full-bodied shot.

Choose your coffee

  • Darkwolf: Full-bodied. Intense. No bitterness. Chocolate and caramel come first, a nutty edge follows close behind, with a clean finish. Dark roasts and specialty coffee aren't meant to mix, but there are some things you can only find off the beaten path.
  • Mastro: Medium roast, built for range. Rich enough to carry milk without losing itself. Cocoa first, then raspberry, then a run of maple syrup underneath. Bold and ambitious, Mastro gets you through the whole mission.
  • Florito: The cup you keep coming back to. Medium-dark, Italian-style roast. Chocolate up front, liquorice underneath, a trace of hazelnut at the end. You can always rely on Florito.

Choose your grind

  • Whole beans if you grind your own: Oracle, Oracle Touch, Oracle Jet, and the Dynamic Duo, which comes with its own grinder.
  • Ground espresso if you don't: Dual Boiler on its own.

Choose your size

200g is around 11 double shots at an 18g dose, 10 at 20g, or 9 at 22g. 1kg is around 55 at 18g, 50 at 20g, or 45 at 22g.

  • A compatibility screw, on the Oracle Jet version
  • Pesado EP Electro Polished Filter Basket, 58mm, in 18g, 20g, or 22g
  • One bag of Brew Gallery coffee, 200g or 1kg, in your choice of blend and grind

Questions, answered

Which version do I choose? Pick your machine above. The Oracle Jet needs a compatibility screw to fit, which comes with the Oracle Jet version. Every other Breville 58mm machine uses the screws already in your group head.

Which basket size should I choose? 18g for a standard double shot, or if you're newer to espresso. 20g or 22g if you like a larger, stronger shot. Grind a little coarser as the dose goes up, to keep your shot time on track.

Which grind should I choose? Whole beans if you have a grinder, whether built into your Oracle, Oracle Touch, or Oracle Jet, or alongside your Dual Boiler as part of the Dynamic Duo. Ground espresso for a Dual Boiler without one.

Do I need tools to fit it? No. The screen swaps in where your factory shower screen sits, using what came with your machine, plus the included screw on the Oracle Jet version. The basket drops into your portafilter.

THE 58HD SET

Precision water flow for perfectly even extractions.

The 58HD set replaces the stock Breville 58mm shower screen and its plastic diffusion plate with a machined stainless steel screen carrying 18 targeted channels and a solid stainless diffusion plate. Together they remove the micro channelling that irregular water diffusion creates, and give you the same starting conditions on every shot.

STOCK VS HD HIGH DIFFUSION

Breville 58mm, side by side

The stock 58mm setup pairs a mesh screen with a plastic diffusion plate, and neither one directs where water actually lands. The 58HD screen replaces both with machined channels and a solid stainless plate, hitting the same points on the puck shot after shot.

58MM HD
STOCK
58mm Breville HD 2.0

A thinner plate, and the clearance to use it.

The 2.0 revision replaces the stock plastic diffusion plate with one machined from solid stainless steel, thinner and lighter than the part it replaces. That extra clearance inside the group head matters most on the automatic dosing machines, which have a habit of overfilling the basket and jamming the puck against the screen.

  • Room for a bigger puck: more head room than the stock screen, so the Oracle range's auto dosing has somewhere to go without crushing the bed against the screen.
  • Single and double baskets: the 2.0 plate works with both Breville 58mm single and double shot filter baskets.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

A stock Breville screen uses a mesh-plus-plastic-plate setup that catches the water and lets it find its own way out. The path changes from shot to shot, which usually means two to four thick streams landing in the same weak spots and breaking the puck.

The HD screen replaces that with 18 machined channels. Water is directed to the same points across the puck on every extraction, so diffusion is even and repeatable.

All Breville 58mm group head machines: Dual Boiler, Dynamic Duo, Oracle, Oracle Touch and Oracle Dual Boiler.

It also fits the Oracle Jet version. Choose "Oracle Jet" above and it ships with the compatibility screw that machine needs. The standard version doesn't include it.

Unlike the 54mm set, the BR58HD works with both single and double shot filter baskets. If you have a 54mm machine such as a Bambino, Barista Express or Barista Touch, you need the 54mm version instead.

The contact mesh sits on top of the puck and holds its structure through pre infusion, which cuts down on channelling and improves diffusion. It also keeps grounds off the screen itself, so there is less to clean between shots. One mesh and locating pin is included in every set.

Day to day, run a cleaning brush across the face and channels to keep coffee grounds clear. Once a week, unscrew the screen and wash the plate and screw under running water. That is enough to stop buildup and keep water flowing evenly on every shot.

The stainless diffusion plate comes out with the screen and washes the same way. Dry both before refitting.
