Description

Save 8% compared with buying the screen, basket, and coffee separately.

For anyone with a Breville 54mm machine who wants water to reach the whole puck evenly, a basket that doses the same way every time, and fresh coffee to dial it all in.

The pack has three parts:

  • The Pesado High Diffusion Shower Screen replaces your factory screen, using 18 channels to spread water across the whole coffee bed instead of the off-centre spray most Breville 54mm machines start with. It includes a 0.2mm contact mesh.
  • The Pesado EP Electro Polished Filter Basket is polished right inside the holes for a smoother, more forgiving flow, with dosing held to ±1g. It's made to bring out medium to dark roasts.
  • A bag of our own coffee, roasted in Australia and chosen by you.

A new screen and basket change how water moves through the puck, so it's worth dialling in on fresh coffee rather than the last of an old bag.

Choose your basket

  • 18g: a standard double shot.
  • 20g: room for a larger dose and a stronger shot.

Choose your coffee

  • Darkwolf: Full-bodied. Intense. No bitterness. Chocolate and caramel come first, a nutty edge follows close behind, with a clean finish. Dark roasts and specialty coffee aren't meant to mix, but there are some things you can only find off the beaten path.
  • Mastro: Medium roast, built for range. Rich enough to carry milk without losing itself. Cocoa first, then raspberry, then a run of maple syrup underneath. Bold and ambitious, Mastro gets you through the whole mission.
  • Florito: The cup you keep coming back to. Medium-dark, Italian-style roast. Chocolate up front, liquorice underneath, a trace of hazelnut at the end. You can always rely on Florito.

Choose your grind

  • Whole beans if your machine grinds for you: Barista Express, Barista Express Impress, Barista Pro, and Barista Touch.
  • Ground espresso if it doesn't: Bambino, Bambino Plus, Infuser, and Duo-Temp Pro.

Choose your size

200g is around 11 double shots at an 18g dose, or 10 at 20g. 1kg is around 55 at 18g, or 50 at 20g.

Questions, answered

Which basket size should I choose? 18g if you're dosing a standard double shot, or you're newer to espresso. 20g if you like a larger, stronger shot. You'll grind a little coarser with the 20g to keep your shot time on track.

Which grind should I choose? Whole beans if your machine has a grinder built in, like the Barista Express, Barista Express Impress, Barista Pro, or Barista Touch. Ground espresso if it doesn't, like the Bambino, Bambino Plus, Infuser, or Duo-Temp Pro.

Will it fit my machine? The screen fits the Breville 54mm machines listed above, and the basket drops into your existing 54mm portafilter. If you have a Dual Boiler, Oracle, Oracle Touch, or Oracle Jet, choose the 58mm pack instead.

Do I need tools to fit it? No. The screen swaps in where your factory shower screen sits, using what came with your machine.

THE 54HD SET

Precision water flow for perfectly even extractions.

The 54HD set replaces the stock Breville 54mm shower screen with a machined stainless steel screen carrying 18 targeted channels. Removes the micro channelling that irregular water diffusion creates, giving you the same starting conditions on every shot.

STOCK VS HD HIGH DIFFUSION

Breville 54mm, side by side

The stock 54mm screen is a basket shaped mesh with no way to direct where water lands. Water grips the mesh, bundles into a few thick streams and takes a different path every time. The 54HD screen uses integrated channels to hit the same points on the puck, shot after shot.

54mm Breville HD 2.0

One screen for every Breville 54mm machine.

The 2.0 revision carries a redesigned integrated channel layout, which is what finally makes a single 54mm screen work across the whole Breville lineup.

  • Corrects off-center water dispersion: New diffusion disc squares up the off centre flow built into the Barista Express, Infuser and Duo-Temp group heads.
  • Free 0.2mm contact mesh: Sits on top of the puck to hold its structure through pre infusion, reducing channelling and keeping the screen cleaner between pulls.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

A stock Breville 54mm screen uses a basket shaped mesh that catches the water and lets it find its own way out. The path changes from shot to shot, which usually means two to four thick streams landing in the same weak spots and breaking the puck.

The HD screen replaces that with 18 machined channels. Water is directed to the same points across the puck on every extraction, so diffusion is even and repeatable.

All Breville and Sage 54mm group head machines:

  • Bambino and Bambino Plus
  • Barista Express
  • Barista Express Impress (manual dosing recommended)
  • Barista Pro
  • Barista Touch
  • Barista Touch Impress (manual dosing recommended)
  • Duo-Temp Pro
  • Infuser
  • Sage 54mm models
  • Solis

Please note the BR54HD is not compatible with Breville 54mm single baskets. It is recommended for use with double baskets only. If you have a 58mm machine such as the Dual Boiler, Oracle or Oracle Touch, you need the 58mm version instead.

  • Size: Breville 54mm
  • Thickness: 2.6mm
  • Diameter: 53mm
  • Holes: 18 channels
  • Material: 304 stainless steel
  1. Unscrew the centre shower screw and remove the existing screen from the group head.
  2. Clean any residue off the group head. A full backflush before first use is recommended.
  3. Fit the 54HD screen using your existing shower screw and tighten by hand.

The whole job takes about two minutes. Installation video linked further up the page.

The contact mesh sits on top of the puck and holds its structure through pre infusion, which cuts down on channelling and improves diffusion. It also keeps grounds off the screen itself, so there is less to clean between shots. One mesh and locating pin is included in every set.

Day to day, run a cleaning brush across the face and channels to keep coffee grounds clear. Once a week, unscrew the screen and wash the plate and screw under running water. That is enough to stop buildup and keep water flowing evenly on every shot.
